The UNDP Re:Think 2021 Innovative Pathways Towards Net-Zero Cities conference was successfully held in Beijing and Chengdu on December 13. The conference brought together "super minds" from government, international organizations, academia and business sector to engage in cross-sectoral dialogue and exchange, colliding ideas and sharing experiences. The total number of viewers of the conference live streaming nears 500,000.
The conference was a feast of ideas in discussing how to stimulate urban innovation through innovation in policy, technology and finance, and to contribute knowledge and insights to achieve low carbon transition and build a zero carbon future.
Re:Think 2021 was organized by the United Nations Development Programme and the Chengdu High-tech Industrial Development Zone Management Committee, supported by the China International Center for Economic and Technical Exchanges of the Ministry of Commerce, with the Institute of Sustainable Development Goals of Tsinghua University as the academic partner.
During the conference, experts from various countries introduced the policy trends of climate change at home and abroad, explored the development pathways of zero-carbon industry and zero-carbon industrialization, and emphasized the need to accelerate the construction of a sustainable financial system. The conference focused on the role of cities in facilitating the zero-carbon transition, and the important role of "technological cities" and "high-tech zones" in the transition to low-carbon cities.
