From 22 to 25 January, the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2019 (Davos 2019) was held in Davos, Switzerland. Extensive discussions were conducted on the theme of 'Globalisation 4.0: Shaping a Global Architecture in the Age of the Fourth Industrial Revolution', aiming to explore new models for development that take into account peace, inclusiveness and sustainability. Professor Xue Lan, Co-Director of Institute for Sustainable Development Goals, Tsinghua University (TUSDG), was invited to attend and host the 3rd 'Belt and Road Davos Forum'.
The 'Belt and Road' Initiative is a global common development initiative put forward by Chinese leaders in the new era, and is a Chinese proposal to promote a new type of globalisation. In order to contribute to the construction of 'Belt and Road' and build a platform for the exchange of people's minds and ideas of the countries along the route. Tsinghua University (THU), together with the Department of International Cooperation of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), launched the 'Belt and Road Davos Forum' in January 2017, which takes place annually in Davos, Switzerland, alongside the World Economic Forum. With the joint efforts of all parties, the meeting has gained great attention and active participation from foreign dignitaries, international organizations and representatives of the business sector, and has become an important platform for conveying China's voice to the world and sharing the policies and actions of 'Belt and Road' at the Davos Forum.
On 24 January, Davos 2019 was successfully held as scheduled. THU President Qiu Yong delivered a speech at the forum, Vice President Yang Bin attended the forum, while TUSDG's Co-Director Xue Lan moderated the 'Belt and Road Davos Forum' discussion.

Kolodko Former Deputy Prime Minister of Poland; Ibrahim AI-Omar, Governor of the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authorit; Soopakij Chearavanont, Chairman of Chia Tai Group; Tadashi Maeda, Chairman of the Board for the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), and Chui Sai Ping, Member of Council of the University of Macau (UM), were among the honourable guests.
Xue Lan hosted the 3rd Belt and Road Davos Forum
On 23rd January, Center for China & Globalization and Phoenix New Media co-organised a Luncheon on the theme of "New Direction and Power of Globalisation under Twists and Turns" during the Davos Forum. Xue Lan was invited to attend the seminar and delivered a speech. Xue Lan pointed out that the biggest challenge of current globalisation is governance, in which NGOs such as private think tanks need to play a greater role.
