The kick-off meeting of the 2022 Digital Leadership Academy (DLA) training program of Indonesia's Ministry of Communications, hosted by the Ministry of Communications and Tsinghua University's School of Public Policy and Management, and organized by the Cadre Education Center and TUSDG, was held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia on May 17th. Indonesian President Joko Widodo, President of Tsinghua University Wang Xiqin, and Minister of Communications of Indonesia Johny Gernard Plate attended online and delivered opening speeches for the kick-off meeting.

The launch event coincided with the second plenary session of the G20 Digital Economy Working Group, which was attended by more than 400 representatives from ministries and commissions of G20 member countries, including the United States, Australia, and the United Kingdom, as well as representatives from Indonesia's political, business, and academic communities. The event was held in a combination of online and offline.

Speech by Wang Xiqin, President of Tsinghua University

In 2022, the Ministry of Communications will partner with Tsinghua University and eight world-renowned universities - Harvard, Oxford, National University of Singapore, MIT, Cambridge, Imperial College London, and Cornell - to provide advanced training in the field of digitalization to 550 senior leaders from Indonesia's public and private sectors through the DLA training program. For this Digital Leadership Academy training program, Tsinghua University was invited by the Ministry of Communications of Indonesia to deliver the opening speech for the launch as the representative of the eight university partners of the DLA training program.

In 2021, the Ministry of Communications of Indonesia and Tsinghua University School of Public Administration hosted the first DLA training program, which effectively accelerated Indonesia's digital transformation and facilitated the drafting of more than 10 policies related to the digital economy. The program won the “First Prize of Tsinghua University Continuing Education Excellence Program 2021”, and was the only overseas training program of Tsinghua University to win the prize.
