The Third National Grid Sustainability Management Training Course for Key Personnel Successfully Held

From September 23rd to 27th, 2021, the “Third Training Course for State Grid Sustainability Management Key Personnel” was successfully held in Beijing, which was co-hosted by Tsinghua University School of Public Policy and Management (SPPM) and State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC), organized by the Enterprise Management Association of SGCC, the Institute for Sustainable Development Goals of Tsinghua University (Tsinghua SDG Institute/ TUSDG), and the Cadre Education Center of SPPM, with the support of the SGCC Higher Education Center.

With the theme of “Sustainable Development and Enterprise Transformation”, the training was attended by 136 key personnel from SGCC headquarter, provincial companies and local municipal companies. At the opening ceremony on the morning of the 23rd, Yang Aiqin, deputy director of the SGCC Higher Training Center and member of the Party Committee, Tian Xiaolei, deputy secretary-general of the Enterprise Management Association of SGCC, and Zhu Xufeng, executive vice dean of SPPM and executive director of the TUSDG, attended the ceremony and delivered speeches, which were presided over by Liu Weiguo, deputy director of the Comprehensive Department of the Enterprise Management Association of SGCC.

The five-day training was conducted by domestic experts in the field of sustainable development: Qian Xiaojun, Professor of the Department of Leadership and Organization Management, School of Economics and Management, and Vice Dean of Schwarzman College, Tsinghua University; Pan Jie, Professor of the SPPM, Tsinghua University, and former Deputy Director of Hong Kong's Environmental Protection Bureau; Sun Jirong, sustainability economist and former Asia-Pacific President of Germany's Siemens; Guo Peiyuan, General Manager of the Business Channel; and Toyota Motor (China) Investment Co. Ltd. Project Director, Yang Kai, Deputy General Manager of United Fuel Cell System R&D (Beijing) Co., Ltd; Chai Qimin, Director of Strategic Planning Department, National Center for Climate Change Strategy and International Cooperation, Ministry of Ecology and Environment. The experts focused on the four themes of “Sustainable Development Goals, Global Governance, Energy Transformation, and Corporate Social Responsibility and Practice”, and taught the participants about the future development and transformation of enterprises in the era of sustainable development and “dual carbon” goals.

In 2016, SPPM and SGCC Higher Training Center signed a comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement for the first time, and the two sides carried out several cooperation in the “training of trainers and project development”. The two sides renewed the MOU in 2021 to expand the scope of cooperation, covering talent training, case development, resource sharing, international exchange and cooperation, and think tank construction. The “State Grid Sustainability Management Training Program” is a talent training program established under the framework of the cooperation agreement between the two parties, and has trained more than 470 trainees, with remarkable results, providing talent support for the future sustainable development and transformation of State Grid.
