2021 Tsinghua International Case Analysis Competition of Public Policy on SDGs was successfully held

On August 21st, the final round of the 2021 Tsinghua International Case Analysis Competition of Public Policy on SDGs was successfully held online, co-sponsored by the China Case Center for Public Policy & Management and the Institute for Sustainable Development Goals, Tsinghua University. The competition is held for undergraduate and master students of universities around the world, encouraging students from different countries, institutions and professional backgrounds to explore in depth the typical problems, vivid practices, policy innovations and solutions in the field of sustainable development in China and other countries around the world by means of case studies, to cultivate a keen sense of problem and innovative thinking, and to enhance the ability to analyze and solve practical problems by applying theoretical knowledge. Since its launch in May, the competition has attracted 49 teams with 147 applicants from 53 institutions in China, the United States, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Singapore, Ireland, Australia and Germany. The teams chose their topics around the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), thought about sustainable development issues from the perspective of public policy professionals, conducted field research, online interviews, and carefully wrote case study reports. After four months of preparation and two rounds of competition, a total of 10 master's student teams and 13 undergraduate teams stood out and successfully entered the final round.

From the opening of registration in May to the preliminary round, the semi-final and the final round, during the four months, the participating students, with the passion for research on the SDGs, went out of campus, conducted serious research, cooperated sincerely, collided views and challenged themselves, not only practicing the academic ability to conduct public policy analysis and case study, but also gaining a deeper understanding of the reality of the country and the issue of global governance. This event has attracted 674 participants from 192 teams from 138 institutions in China, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, South Korea, Switzerland, Singapore, Ireland, Australia, Germany, India, France, Japan, and other countries in the past four years since it was launched in 2018, and more students are welcome to pay attention to and participate in this event in the future, so as to jointly make positive contributions to the realization of the SDGs.
