Launch of the report on the Current Development Status, Social Impacts and Policy Recommendations of the Gig Economy in the Internet Era
The report “Development Status, Social Impacts and Policy Recommendations of the Gig Economy in the Internet Era”, authored by the Institute of Economics, School of Social Sciences, Tsinghua University in cooperation with the Beijing ByteDance Public Policy Research Institute, and funded by the Sub-center for New Economic Development of the Institute for Sustainable Development Goals, Tsinghua University, was officially released in Beijing recently.
The traditional Gig economy is transforming into the Internet Gig economy, and the skill-based, knowledge-based and creative Gig economy is becoming a new trend of development. The Internet Gig economy is becoming an important force to promote the new employment pattern and a new growth point to promote the high-quality development of the national economy, and the Gig economy's contribution to the total incremental GDP in 2019 is 10.43%, and its contribution to the GDP growth rate is 0.64%. pull is 0.64%, and it is expected that by 2035, the Gig economy will account for 6.82% of GDP and contribute 13.26% to the incremental GDP. This is the judgment made in this report. The report puts forward the concept of Gig economy, and systematically analyzes the current status of domestic and international development, future trends, value significance and development difficulties of Gig economy. Meanwhile, based on the research results, the report also puts forward targeted policy recommendations to support the development of the Gig economy in the Internet era. The report concludes that, in order to promote the development of the “build, govern and share” economy, there is an urgent need to improve the corresponding laws and regulations, and to establish and practise more scientific industrial policies and governance systems in accordance with the realities.
