From June 25th to 28th, faculty and students from School of Public Policy & Managment, Tsinghua University (SPPM) and the Institute of Sustainable Development Goals of Tsinghua University (TUSDG) went to Yuxi City, Yunnan Province to conduct a five-day research on the current situation of local sustainable development. Zhu Xufeng, Professor, Associate Dean of SPPM and Executive Director of TUSDG, led the team, while Wang Hongxin, Special Assistant to the Director of TUSDG, Zheng Yi, Head of Office, Research Assistant Peng Si and Xiao Qiannan, Tsinghua Postdoctoral Fellows Bai Guihua and Li Yuanbo, and doctoral student Zhang Chao and master's student An Yunyi took part in the research.

The leaders at the meeting systematically introduced to the research group the development status and future planning of Yuxi in recent years in different fields. In the afternoon of the same day, the research group went to Chaijia Mountain to investigate the urban planning and construction situation of Yuxi, and to Hongta Group Yuxi Cigarette Factory to understand the current development situation and predicament of the tobacco industry, which is one of the pillar industries in Yuxi.

On the 26th, the research group has gone to Fucheng River Chief Office, Fuxian Lake Ecological Exhibition Center, Yuxi Manor and Guanglong Tourism Town. And research on Chengjiang County River Chief System's situation, Fuxian Lake inlet channel and the comprehensive management of the ecological environment around the lake, fallow to the lake and the planning and construction of new towns, respectively.

On the 27th, the research group went to Xi Ee Ancient Town of Eshan County, Shuangjiang Primary School and Xiaojie Middle School of Eshan Yi Autonomous County to learn about the construction of the characteristic eco-town, regional poverty alleviation policies, and the current situation of the allocation of educational resources; In the afternoon of the same day, the research group visited Yuxi Chuanhua Tongli Highway Port City Logistics Center, Huawei Cloud Computing Data Center, Yuxi Intelligent Manufacturing Industrial Park, Yuxi Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center Qidi Zongchuang Park, and High-tech Zone Biological Industrial Park, etc., to learn about Yuxi's “Internet +” industry operation, the mode of “investment + incubation” and the current status of innovation and entrepreneurship in the science and technology field.

On the 28th, the research group visited Yuxi Science and Education Innovation City, and listened to the leadership of the management committee of the city's Science and Education Innovation City's outlook on Yuxi to build a “one-center, five-section, seven-area” science, education and innovation system that combines industry, academia and research. Subsequently, by visiting the charging station at the water outlet and the “Two Lakes and Great Waterfalls” ecological park, the research group conducted in-depth study on the use of new energy and the construction and operation of facilities in the local area, the current situation of the construction of sponge city in Yuxi, and the comprehensive improvement of the city's waterways.

Through this visit, the research team gained a more detailed understanding of Yuxi's development status and planning objectives, which laid a solid foundation and accumulated rich materials for the future cooperation between SPPM, TUSDG and Yuxi and the exploration of Yuxi's sustainable development model.
