Professor Shahbaz Khan,UNESCO Representative in China,and his delegation visited TUSDG

On the morning of 17 September 2021, Professor Shahbaz Khan, UNESCO Representative in China, and his delegation visited the Institute for Sustainable Global Development of Tsinghua University (TUSDG) and held a seminar. Professor Xue Lan, Co-Director of TUSDG, met as a representative, and Robert Parua, Education Programme Specialist of UNESCO Representative Office in China, Zhao Tianzhou, Education Programme Assistant, Professor Zhu Xufeng, Executive Director of TUSDG, Executive Associate Dean of School of Public Policy and Management (SPPM), Tsinghua University, and Zheng Yi, Head of the Office of TUSDG, were present at the seminar.

On-site discussion

Both sides had an in-depth discussion on the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in China, especially focus on the policies and practices in the fields of education, culture, science and technology. Professor Shahbaz Khan spoke highly of the achievements of Tsinghua University's work in the field of SDGs, and highlighted the positive significance of the Tsinghua University SDG Action Report for the implementation of the UN SDGs in China's universities. Both sides agreed that academics should form closer ties with the government and the public, and at the same time strengthen the implementation of the SDGs in various fields and levels through the typical cases. This seminar laid a solid foundation for future cooperation between the two parties; earlier, Professor Shahbaz Khan and his delegation also met and discussed views with Yang Bin, Vice President and Provost of Tsinghua University and Director of the Board of Directors of TUSDG.
