On the morning of September 10, 2020, The Administrative Center for China's Agenda 21, Ministry of Science and Technology (hereinafter referred to as "China's Agenda 21") visited TUSDG and had a discussion. Zhou Shaojie, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Associate Professor of School of Public Policy & Management (SPPM), Associate Professor Gao Yuning and Associate Professor Zhu Junming of SPPM, as well as Zheng Yi, Head of Office of TUSDG, were present at the seminar. Speech by Xue Lan
First of all, Professor Xue Lan, on behalf of TUSDG, welcomed the arrival of the delegation from China's Agenda 21. He mentioned that he hoped both parties would take this meeting as a starting point for closer cooperation in research projects and talent exchange in the future.
Speech by Huang Jing
Director Huang Jing described the history, structure and focus of the China's Agenda 21, which started its preparation in 1991 and was established on the occasion of the adoption of Agenda 21 at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in 1992 and the adoption of China's Agenda 21 by the State Council in 1994, and its current work focuses on strategic research in the fields of climate change, resources and environment, oceans and seas, and the promotion of the construction of the National Innovation Demonstration Zone of the Agenda for Sustainable Development, and the participation in the negotiations under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, etc. The work in promoting sustainable development is closely related to the Tsinghua SDG Research Institute. He looked forward to the prospect of cooperation between the two parties in international cooperation and research projects.
Professor Zhu Xufeng introduced the establishment and development of the TUSDG, as well as the academic activities, research projects, talent training and international exchanges carried out by the organization in promoting the process of sustainable development. He highlighted the research results on the National Sustainable Development Agenda Innovation Demonstration Zone and put forward the concept of resource sharing between the two organisations in scientific research and talent cultivation.
