From June 25 to 28, 2025, the 2025 Annual Conference of the Asia-Pacific Network of Housing Research (APNHR) was successfully held at the School of Public Policy and Management, Tsinghua University. Themed “Towards Resilience and Inclusivity: Adapting to Multifaceted Challenges in the Asia-Pacific Region,” the conference attracted over 130 scholars and experts from 16 countries and regions to engage in in-depth discussions on new pathways and strategies for sustainable housing development.

The opening ceremony of the conference took place on the morning of June 26. Professor Zhu Xufeng, Dean of the School of Public Policy and Management, Tsinghua University and Executive Dean of the Institute for Sustainable Development Goals of Tsinghua University, delivered the welcome address first. He expressed the school's great honor in hosting this international conference and stated that the School of Public Policy and Management is dedicated to cultivating public affairs talent with a global vision, a strong sense of national responsibility, and a commitment to sustainable development. This event, he noted, aims to provide a platform for global scholars to exchange ideas and jointly explore how to build more adaptive and sustainability-oriented housing policies, promoting inclusive and resilient development in cities facing multiple challenges, and co-creating a sustainable urban future.

Following this, Professor He Shenjing, Chair of APNHR and Head of the Department of Urban Planning and Design at the University of Hong Kong, also delivered an opening address. She introduced the latest developments of APNHR, emphasized the timeliness and urgency of the conference theme, and encouraged participants to collectively explore innovative pathways to address the multiple challenges in the Asia-Pacific region, with the goal of achieving resilience and inclusion in urban housing systems.

The opening ceremony was chaired by Professor Liu Zhilin, Vice-Chair of APNHR, Professor at the School of Public Policy and Management, Tsinghua University and a key Researcher at the Institute for Sustainable Development Goals of Tsinghua University.
