TUSDG holds “Meet SDGs” High-End Forum No. 4





On November 5, 2018, the third day of the "New Civilized Cities and Sustainable Development Forum", the Institute for Sustainable Development Goals of Tsinghua University (TUSDG) held "Meet SDGs" High-End Forum No.4 in the main building of Tsinghua University as an essential part of the Forum. Yang Bin, Vice President and Provost of Tsinghua University, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of TUSDG, delivered the opening remark. Wu Hongbo, the former Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations, Adjunct Professor of Tsinghua University and Co-Director of TUSDG, chaired the forum. Ban Ki-moon, the former Secretary-General of the United Nations, Co-Chair of Ban Ki-moon Centre for World Citizens and the Chair of BOAO Forum for Asia, delivered his speech.

Ban Ki-moon shared his journey from dreaming of becoming a diplomat and leader of his nation to becoming the eighth Secretary-General of the United Nations. He encouraged every Tsinghua student to bear a dream in mind, to chase it, to broaden their horizons and global vision, and to actively confront and address the current challenges facing humanity. During his term as Secretary-General of the United Nations, he has devoted tremendous effort and energy to addressing the problems of unsustainable development. By the end of his speech, he encouraged everyone to develop a sense of "global citizenship" to build a sustainable future for humanity and the global ecosystem.

By the end of the forum, Wu Hongbo presented a gift to Ban Ki-moon on behalf of TUSDG for his visit to Tsinghua University, his inspiring speech, and also his unremitting efforts promoting the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development during his term as Secretary-General.
