On May 24, 2018, with the approval the Organization Department of the Central Committee of the CPC and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Wu Hongbo, the former Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations, was officially appointed as Adjunct Professor at Tsinghua University and Co-Director of the Institute for Sustainable Development Goals, Tsinghua University (TUSDG). The appointment ceremony was held at Tsinghua University School of Public Policy and Management (SPPM). Professor Yang Bin, Vice President and Provost of Tsinghua University, and Director of TUSDG, presented him the letter of appointment.

Wu Hongbo delivered a keynote speech entitled "A Community of Shared Future for Mankind and Sustainable Development". Xue Lan, Professor and Dean of SPPM and Co-Director of TUSDG, moderated the "Meet SDGs" High-Level Forum No.3. Li Ming, Sustainable Development Program Manager of UNDP, Prof. Wu Yongping, Director of the Tsinghua-Geneva SDG Dual Master’s Program, Prof. Zhu Xufeng, Associate Dean of SPPM and Executive Director of TUSDG, and Prof. Pan Jie attended the forum along with hundreds of students.
