The Institute for Sustainable Development Goals and WWF Beijing Office PublishedSustainable Development Goals in China: Local Evaluation and Outlook Report.On the basis of the SDGs frameworks and by combining China's provincial economic and social statistics from 2004 to 2017, the study measured, monitored and envisaged China's regional SDGs; constructed a provincial SDGs indicator system, covering 74 targets under 14 goals; and measured the SDGs index of the provinces.

The report makes three policy recommendations. First, to include localized SDGs indicators in China's development goals’ system during the 14th Five-Year Plan period; second, to strengthen domestic policy support and mechanism building in promoting local sustainable development agenda in a multi-pronged approach; and third, to encourage social engagement, international cooperation, and global experience exchange.
