From November 3 to 6, 2020, the “Second Training Course for State Grid Corporation of China Sustainability Management Key Personnel”, co-hosted by the School of Public Policy & Management of Tsinghua University (SPPM) and State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC), and organized by the Institute for Sustainable Development Goals of Tsinghua University (TUSDG) and Cadre Education Center of SPPM, was successfully held in Beijing, China. The training programme was attended by a total of 128 middle-level management cadres from the headquarters of SGCC, provincial companies and local municipal companies.

The 4-day training was lectured by domestic experts in the field of sustainable development: Jiang Xiaojuan, Professor and Dean of SPPM, member of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, and Vice Chairman of the Social Development Affairs Committee of National People's Congress; Zhu Xufeng, Professor and Associate Dean of SPPM, and Executive Director of TUSDG; Poon Jie, Professor of SPPM, and former Deputy Director of Hong Kong's Environmental Protection Bureau; Guo Peiyuan, General Manager of Syntao and Mr. Tang Cheng, Research Fellow of Energy Internet Research Institute, Tsinghua University focus on the five themes of “Outlook of Digital Economy in the Post-Epidemic Era, Overall Framework and Concepts of SDGs, Global Governance, Energy Innovation and Enterprise Transformation”, and teach the participants on enterprise development and sustainability transformation under the era of global sustainable development. and sustainability transformation in the era of global sustainability.

Under the framework of the comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement signed between SPPM and SGCC university in 2016, TUSDG and the Cadre Education Center of SPPM have joined to create the “State Grid Corporation of China Sustainability Management Key Personnel Programme”in 2019. At present, the training programme has been successfully held for two batches, and has trained more than 300 key management personnel of SGCC, playing a crucial role in enhancing the capacity building of sustainability management of SGCC, and contributing to the contribution of state-owned enterprises in promoting the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in China.
